Job Opportunities for Auctioneers!

Over the past week and a half, SCAA Executive Services has sent out two requests for auctioneer services to the members of the South Carolina Auctioneers Association! This is another benefit to being a member of the only professional auctioneer association in the state of South Carolina!

The process is this – a client calls or emails Executive Services asking for information about auctioneers in the state. Executive Services then asks questions about the auction needs, location and timeline and sends out a ‘Job Opportunity’ email to active members of the SCAA. A deadline is given for submission of information (name, phone number, license number) and all of the submittals are forwarded to the client.

So… be on the lookout for these emails. Of course, we cannot guarantee the client will call you, however we can guarantee the list will be compiled and sent to the client.

Current President’s Message – July 2010

Greetings Auctioneers!
Summer has arrived-afternoon thunderstorms, temperatures in the 100’s, vacation time, schools out, and HUMIDITY. I hope everyone had a good Memorial Day and 4th of July. What a great way to start the summer by remembering those who have given themselves in the service of our country. We are so fortunate to be Americans and to live in this great country. We all know someone who has served or is currently serving in our Armed Forces- take the time to write a note, make a phone call or a personal visit to let them know how much you appreciate the sacrifices they have made for us. Because of these selfless and brave men and women, we live in a land of limitless opportunity. I hope you all exercised your freedom and voted in the primary elections and the runoff elections. One of our own, Jeff Duncan is running again and we wish him well. Jeff has been a great advocate for the auctioneer community in the State House, good luck Jeff and hopefully congratulations. We appreciate all you do for us.
I’ve heard great things about the NAA Convention in Greensboro, NC. I can’t wait to receive this issue of the Bid Caller. Unfortunately, Mike and I were unable to attend so I’m eagerly looking forward to reading about all the great happenings at the convention. Your Board of Directors is working diligently to prepare for the SCAA Convention in January. Mark your calendars for the weekend of January 28-30 in Columbia, SC. We will be updating you with the location in August. See you there!
By the time you receive this edition of the Bid Caller, our new and improved web site will be up and running. I want to thank Darron Meares and Board of Directors for all your work and input into this project. We believe our new web site will be a great tool for your business. Take a minute to make sure your information is correct on the site, email Darron for corrections, and send the web address to all your friends and colleagues. Be proud of your SCAA and promote the auction industry.
It is time to renew your membership in the SCAA. Renewal forms have been mailed. The cost of renewal has not changed. Please encourage your fellow auctioneers who are not members to join. The benefits of membership are priceless. We are growing-please grow with us.

Always Working for You,
Jennifer

SCAA website testimonial

Taken from an email from Rafe Dixon, SCAA member:

Darron:

Just last week, I received an auction inquiry call. I made an appointment to meet the prospective client and inspect his items. At the meeting, the gentlemen told me that he had never been to an auction, asked lots of good questions. During the course of the meeting, I inquired as to how he had found me. He told me that when considering his options, several friends had suggested an auction, and he found the idea intriguing, so he started looking for an auctioneer. He quickly found the SCAA website, and searched for auctioneers in the area and found me. He followed this up by checking out my website, and checking my license status at SCLLR as well. All of this was BEFORE he called me.

I’ll be presenting a proposal for his auction this week. I’m optimistic that it will lead to a nice auction.

What an excellent testimonial about the SCAA site and what it means to be listed as a member of the Association!
